What kind of place should you book?

Hotels and serviced apartments

Liverpool and Campbelltown have most of the region’s hotels and serviced apartments, close to train stations, shopping centres and motorways. Apartments with a kitchen suit families and longer stays.

Motels

Motels along the main roads are a good-value choice if you are driving, with free parking and easy access to the motorways.

B&Bs, cottages and farm stays

Around Camden and in Wollondilly you will find B&Bs, cottages and working farms, an hour from the city but a world away from it.

When to book, and what it costs

Rooms in the south-west usually cost less than in central Sydney. Prices rise in December and January, during school holidays and when big events are on in the city. Weekdays can be busy with business travellers in Liverpool and Campbelltown, so weekends are often better value.

Things to check before you book

  • The walk to the nearest train station, if you will not have a car
  • Parking, and whether it is free
  • Air conditioning, which you will want in summer
  • Minimum stays, which are common at cottages and farm stays
